(Not sure if this is the correct way to post an update. (Nasty Forgotten Beast webbing all my dorfs and slaying them: ) Maybe like me, you had increased the default embark size in the game settings and didn't think about it when starting a new game. try a smaller embark and see if it resolves the issue. I don't know for sure if the embark size was causing the issues with pathing, as I am unsure of the size of that specific embark, but it definitely caused issues with new games at the very beginning of the embark. After changing to 7x7 for yet another fresh start, it was instantly solved. The last ones were a 16x16 embark, and this was the root of all evil. I think my first couple games were 4x4 and 6圆, but I had bumped it up wanting a larger space to play in. exe, all of which had no effect.įinally after thinking about it a bit, I decided to try a smaller embark. I looked up all of the info on lag, and everything pointed me to look at my window size, or change compatibility settings on the Dwarf Fortress. In this fortress I just finally gave up from the crawling speed and started a new fortress, only to find it was crawling from the start. Each one would grind the game down to FPS: 2 (2) moments after they took the job, and I had to either forbid the item they were carrying to storage, or create a burrow and pull them away from what they were trying to do. It started with a huge wave of spam about dorfs not being able to find a path to their destination, to store items, to bury bodies, you name it. I had played the Steam Premium version of the game at release and had no trouble, but after a few failed fortresses due to Forgotten Beasts and such (Looking at You Corowa Eelwasted the Hollow), I started having serious issues with FPS/Lag. Bauxite can now be used for porcelain.Want to start playing? Read this sidebar! Nether Caps give netherwood again, instead of standardized wood (temp immune) Red beryl no longer asks for non-existing schist rock. Reduced all stone/gem cut shaped to one. Since gloves have been removed leather armor was incomplete. Renamed standard creature materials to "animal material" instead of " material". Lowered amount of available material types for mandates, to avoid nobles demanding materials that dont exist. You can use Mono+Wine to emulate it on Mac/Linux if you really, really want to. NET-framework to work and is only available for Windows. The reduction of the inorganic materials (gems, stones, minerals, metals) is mostly for shorter lists of buildmats and menus (forge, gemcutter, etc.) Standardized instruments, toys and less clothing helps trading. The biggest FPS boost comes from standardized animal materials and less clothing on invaders. I think it would be a good idea to merge the modest mod into this, with bugfixes and balancing. If people are interested in this, I might be willing to do versions for different tilesets, change some features and do a Mac/Linux version. Removed billon, electrum, and the 3 pewters versions All adv worldgens produce wide, open caverns to help pathfinding (no more mazelike caverns) Standardized animal materials, including bones, leather and meat Less clothing worn by traders and invaders Only one type of sand, soil and two clays (one earthenware, a second one for stoneware) Several stone types leave only dust, no solid stone No changes in gameplay, tactics or balancing have been done All the bugfixes and balancing done by the Modest Mod (written by Igfig) Based on the LNP source code (written by LucasUP) A GUI change graphics and init settings, even on running fortresses. No worries, it is still the good old Dwarf Fortress More similar colored rocks to build your fortress in Less clutter left over from invasions and ambushes Shorter lists of tradegoods for nice trading Shorter lists of build materials to scroll through An educated guess by me is a FPS improvement of at least ~25%, based on reports about MasterworkDF. Accelerated Dwarf Fortress is a small mod that allows people with slower PCs to get the maximum out of their game, or for people who dislike low FPS in high-end fortresses.
